Chistian Vialard - EVP04/Frozen Lullabies - 00:09:00

Chistian Vialard is a French artist, living and working in the South of
France (Grasse Côte d'azur). He builds a criticism of our society resulting from a reflection on the
complex and ambiguous interactions, which we maintain with our urban
territory. The multiple forms that it produces result from a visual and sound
Language drawn from the forms from art, architecture, design, music and
fiction.

This audio piece (duration: 9mn) is a small part of an electro acoustic
piece "EVP/Frozen Lullabies" based on voices from videos on you tube.
Then, treated voices, filtered and inserted in a sound structure where
Abstract sounds and phonographies talk together with digital melodies.
"EVP/Frozen Lullabies" exploits itself the idea of feeling the effects
Of sounds.
A universe made up of soft and deep breathings, delicate and repetitive
Melodies. Crystalline rhythms, sometimes bad-tempered rent the air of
This universe. "EVP/Frozen Lullabies" is a part of shade which uses filtered and Attenuated sound sources.

Olivia Plender - A Stellar Key to the Summerland - Radio Gallery 7 - 01:00:06

(Part of 'Radio Gallery' series of 12 commissioned radio programmes that treat one hour of radio as exhibition space. 'Radio Gallery' was curated and commissioned by Anna Colin for Resonance 104.4FM, London.)

A Stellar Key to the Summerland is a documentary about The Modern Spiritualist Movement, a religion that originated in New York State, USA, in 1848 with the notorious Hydesville Rappings. Despite being based on speaking to the dead, Spiritualists saw themselves as part of a rational religion in dialogue with scientific developments; parallels were made between the messages received via a medium and new communication technologies such as the telegraph and later the telephone and the radio. However this programme particularly examines how Spiritualists used the religion to visualise an alternative to industrial society, overlapping with non-conformist political causes such as the Co-operative movement and the campaign for women's suffrage. The programme is read by Rufus Wright and is structured as a lecture, a broadcast format that now seems old fashioned. It includes seance recordings and interviews with 'scientists' involved with studying spiritualism.

carlos slazengers audio obstacle course 11 - 01:00:00

Mission Statement for Carlos Slazengers Audio Obstacle Course
‘Doncha wish your deejay was wrong like me?, doncha wish your deejay was a freak like me? dontcha?’

Im on Artwave Radio to trade under the name of Carlos Slazenger- ‘Wrongist’ Dee Jay of  radical, neglected & incredibly strange recorded sound, past present & future. I am a collector who has found that some of the most interesting things that exist are not those that are pushed into your face by the ACME multi-national entertainment corp .I create radio programmes & party nights that are intended to confound & surprise, something that mainstream music seems to have lost its talent for. It ain’t easy to answer what music I play when I’m asked, as I genuinely have no axe to grind regarding any one particular genre, and I am not in the least concerned with clutching at the coat tails of ‘cool’. Though I am a lifelong fan of Captain Beefheart & The Fall, I suffer no pangs of aching credibility by following them with Sabrina or Jethro Tull, I’m happy to play artrock, krautrock, early rockabilly, I’ve taken my concept to the clubs & bars with my friends as ‘Non Stop Hits’ & I’m currently starting a new night called ‘pub juke box’ with mates from www.black-athena.com which is a homesick ex pats attempt to recreate an English pub experience (without the underlying aggression ). I also dee jay regularly on www.vinylmicrostore.gr. I have every intention of continuing to search for overlooked oddities to charm you with for as long as I have left to inhabit this planet, which judging by the state of them cowboys carbon footprints wont be too long…

P.S if any of you lot out there have got a copy of ‘Band on the Trot’ by Hylda Baker & Arthur Mullard I’m willing to do anything to get my hands on it…anything. Stalk me at www.myspace.com/carlosslazenger
