Gruppo synestetico - music 04 - 00:01:38
MANIFESTO OF THE MOVIMENTO SINESTETICO
Today 18th February 1999.
In the name of art originates the MOVIMENTO SINESTETICO.
Founded upon a base of an evolutional Synesthetic Thought, developped in the history. That is from an utopic research of a Total Unic Work of Art, created from an interchange of expressive languages. Expressive languages that have as unic aim the stimolation of the 5 ( 6 ) human senses and as a result the creation of a TOTAL WORK, exceeding the attempts made in the past and using their experience; only without stopping at the fundamental relation between Colour and Sound, but extending the levels of perception on other expressive forms. We consider therefore the possibilities Communicative / Expressive in the contest historic present, taking as inspiration source the 900' avan-gardes and from this, we
prepare the generational exchange.

"Perhaps the last traces of human existence will be radio waves beamed into
space, travelling distances before they dissolve into noise"
Curtis Roads in Micro-Sound
A selection of 4 tracks from pingfm's "radio palimpsest", edited by Jan
Brueggemeier
All tracks are excerpts from live improvisations on the radio (experimental
radio bauhaus university weimar and DFM rtv Int.)
In the little palimpsest, the artist has applied the form of the palimpsest
to the area of electronic information storage using the starting point of sound.
The modern way of reading a palimpsest is structural and fragmentary. The
scraping and rewriting of the parchment lead to a way of reading which
nowadays pays more attention to the breaks and layers in the manuscript than to the entire text.
As a cultural technique, this can be regarded as a method of production
which always bases itself upon some already existing object. This condition
can obviously be found in the copy & paste era of electronic media, even if
it is not necessarily regarded as such.
The result is a series of short sound works which plumb the depths of this
aesthetic. The work is based on sound material such as Lebanese radio
recordings, music samples, fragments of telephone conversations, noise and
sound syntheses.
We want to give credit to artists like tetsuo kogawa and net.radio home run
as well as paolo hutter from radio popolare (milan).

Tobias c. van Veen (Montreal)
Title: FOIL
Description: FOIL blends urban sound recordings with media from wartorn places of the world. With what ears do we hear the war? An urbanscape is mined with explosive interventions from EA's BattleField 2 online wargame. From MTL to Beirut via Electronic Arts[TM]. Detonating itself into the debris of alterity. Explicit references lead to implosive depth charges as FOIL enters into the deafening silence of shell shock. Silence that is not actually silent but rather echoes the low-end subsonic swells of technological nihilism. [Thanks to Mazen Kerbaj / soundtransit.nl]. This work may be pirated at will as long as it is attributed and cited.

Radio Free Robots through Samon Takahashi (Paris)
Title: US English Conversation for Beginners
Radio Free Robots (RFR) is a radio show entirely conducted by robots (spoken through synthetized voices). The moderator, Macha, runs a set of highly selected guests (robots). Robots specialists but also the everyone robot are discussing topics as diverse as robots' sociology, cyber terrorism, computer linguistic, bio-computing, the place og human being within society, the weather, autonomous objects, ... The radioshow being located in an undefined future, the topics are debated on a prospective or historical point of view; meaning that the era where the show takes place allows a historical sight over the contemporary topicality and as well anticipates a future of the future. The name Radio Free Robots refers cynically to the infamous US propaganda program fomented by the CIA: Radio Free Europe. The piece itself is called US English Conversation for Beginners. Taking example on the pre-recorded english lessons style of 'repeat after me', a robot read all the lexicon of the US Navy terms shortcuts. As if it were what we should first know in english (or our future generations - RFR is supposedly emitting from the future). It is a political and cynical ac
